Valley Ranch Association Recognized as National Wildlife Federation Community Wildlife Habitat
CONGRATULATIONS to DCMG Nancy Payne (Class of 2005) and the Valley Ranch Green Club for their significant contribution in helping the Valley Ranch Association become a National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Community Wildlife Habitat.
The process required the NWF Community Wildlife Committee to review and verify extensive documentation before awarding this prestigious honor.
A team of volunteers, HOA board and staff, LandCare, IFCD3, City of Irving, and numerous collaborated to plant pollinator habitats and educate the community.
To date, the community has:
- 20 pollinator gardens along canal walkways
- 4 pollinator parks
- a 4-acre Lakeview Park transformed into a native wildflower and grass prairie
- a VR Library pollinator garden
- a Valley Ranch Elementary School habitat.
Additionally, the community has certified 125 home habitats and provides educational resources to its residents. They also host a yearly native plant sale at EarthFest.
Kudos to all for a job well done!
