Get Going On Your Volunteer Hours Now
Remember when you were an intern and were gifted seeds and plants by the certified members? Now it’s your chance to return the favor and earn volunteer hours.
Certified Master Gardeners organize the Seed and Plant Exchange each year to give MG School students the opportunity to get their hands dirty and use the knowledge gained in class to have a “hands-on ” experience with the seeds, bulbs, and plants we have grown and saved just for them.
There are 49 students in the 2022 class, including 14 teachers who will share their learnings and bounty in their school gardens.
From the common to rare and heirloom, our seeds sow happiness and help grow the next generation of Master Gardeners. Any size/quantity donation is welcome; from a single plant to a few dozen seed packages. Please label all plants, seeds, and bulbs with the name of the plant, when and where to plant (sun or shade), planting depth, mature size, and other pertinent info or stories you care to share.
The hope is to offer the goods in the traditional, pre-COVID, manner—a table set-up during the lunch break that the students can peruse on Monday, March 28 at Rowlett Road.
Start collecting now! Plants drop-off is Saturday, March 26, 8 am- 5 pm and Sunday, March 27, 8 am- 5 pm at either front porch location:
Beverly Barry’s home 4171 Meadowdale Lane, Dallas 75229 or
Jan Larson’s home 4735 Chapel Hill Road Dallas 75214
