North Texas Giving Day – September 22

Dear Fellow Master Gardeners,

As you know, Master Gardeners have been giving back to the community since 1986. We teach and grow in over 30 demonstration, community, and school gardens throughout the county. The demand for our services has never been greater.

We keep growing despite COVID’s presence. Food banks face critical shortages of fresh vegetables, therapy and research gardens need tending, and a burgeoning number of community gardeners seek our advice. This year alone, our projects have grown and donated over 7,227 pounds of organic produce to area food banks, including North Texas Food Bank, Metrocrest Services Food Bank, Vickery Meadows Food Pantry, Big Texas Urban Farms, Union Gospel Mission and North Dallas Shared Ministries.  Year to date, our volunteer hours are valued at $750,000 and growing.

Now, more than ever, we need YOUR help to sustain all the Master Gardener projects and community outreach events we support. Like most nonprofits, we depend almost COMPLETELY on the fundraising efforts of our members.  The restrictions still placed upon us by COVID-19 and its variants have reduced our ability to participate in large gatherings, but we are fortunate to be able to participate in North Texas Giving Day, an online fundraising event designed to raise awareness and provide support to non-profits in the community like us.

North Texas Giving Day is Thursday, September 22, 2022.  Early donations will take place beginning September 1. In order for your gift to count towards our fundraising goal, you must wait until September 1 to give.  Funds raised through North Texas Giving Day will allow the Dallas County Master Gardener Association to continue fulfilling our mission to share research-based horticultural knowledge with our community.

To donate to the Dallas County Master Gardener Association, simply visit www.northtexasgivingday.org and choose the “find a non-profit” tab. The first $650.00 will be matched by DCMGA Board Members. All donations are tax-deductible as DCMGA is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Please help us spread awareness about this very important fundraiser with friends and neighbors. Together, we can meet our North Texas Giving Day goals!
