Making a Difference Award: Temisha Daniels

Temisha Daniels is November’s recipient of the Making a Difference Award. She is described as both a rockstar and the ultimate multitasker. When members of the Class of 2024 first met Temisha their immediate impression was that she was someone who made things happen and was never afraid to take on something new. A clear, enthusiastic communicator, everyone who knows Temisha describes her as passionate. She thrives on learning everything she can about subjects that interest her and then strives to use and share that knowledge.
Temisha has a very impressive number of volunteer hours, but also has a shockingly large number of Continuing Education hours. Just certified last year, Temisha ranks third in ALL Master Gardeners in cumulative Continuing Education hours.
She is active at the Help Desk Live at North Haven Gardens, is on the 2026 Garden Tour Team, has worked at demo and school gardens, in addition to completing Advanced Training in Earthkind gardening. Her enthusiasm for flowering plants encourages others to be more adventurous in their gardening.
Most recently, Temisha went from garden to spreadsheet, working her accounting wizardry with the DCMGA budget. With little advanced warning, but no hesitation, she collected budget requests for every administrative line item and every project. Then she compiled the DCMGA 2026 budget, and skillfully walked the board through it prior to budget approval. Not a particularly fun or high profile job, but absolutely mandatory for the functioning of our organization.
In addition to her MG activities, Temisha mentors 2 MG interns, shares produce from her own backyard garden with her neighbors, keeps a neighborhood compost, and helps fellow MGs at their community gardens.
Temisha, you are Making a Difference by avidly gathering knowledge then sharing it in so many areas of this organization and the community.
