DCMGA 2022 Garden Tour Volunteers Needed
We are excited about the upcoming Dallas County GardenerAssociation’s 2022 Spring Garden Tour taking place on Saturday, April 30, 10am to 4pm and Sunday, May 1, 1pm to 5pm.
We haven’t hosted a garden tour since 2018 because of restrictions imposed by the pandemic. This year’s Tour will be a great opportunity to get back in the gardens and volunteer with other Master Gardeners and students.
There will be numerous ways for you to earn volunteer hours before and during the tour as well as opportunities to earn CEUs.
Come see how our fellow Master Gardeners handle the challenges of our soil, moisture, sun, and shade. We utilize Earth-Kind® gardening practices that focus on preserving our earth. The importance of soil management, water conservation, and plant selection and diversity are cornerstones of the Earth-Kind research-proven techniques.
The Tour gardens offer a variety of garden styles, native and adapted plants for both sun and shade, plants that attract wildlife and butterflies, and unique hardscape features including stone walkways, terraces, and a custom-built greenhouse.
The Tour offers a unique opportunity to interact with the public in the setting of a private garden, to educate the public on how Earth-Kind® gardening practices make a difference in our environment, and to promote the DCMG program. Docents will receive extensive training by the Garden Captain in the garden where they are volunteering, and will answer questions and provide information on a variety of topics.
The Garden Tour is the DCMGA’s biggest fundraiser, and all Master Gardeners, including Tour volunteers, are encouraged to support the organization with the purchase of a ticket. That said, no ticket is required for volunteers to enter a garden for volunteer service. A ticket is required for Tour volunteers to visit other gardens outside their assigned location. All Master Gardeners who purchase a ticket and attend the Tour will receive one CEU.
Everything you need to know about volunteering and earning CEU hours may be found on the Garden Tour SignUpGenius . All Tour volunteers must also complete a Garden Tour Emergency Contact Form.
Thank you for choosing to volunteer. We couldn’t pull off the Garden Tour without our amazing volunteers!
