Urban Farm Expo Update

The first week of the Urban Farm Expo was a great success! Considering all the moving pieces, it went very smoothly. And most importantly, the students had a great learning experience that they seemed to really enjoy. Master Gardener volunteers introduced students to herbs, vegetables, tomatoes, bees, vineyard and more. Wednesday’s group had over 90 students, while the Thursday Home School group included 40 students.
Continuous improvement is our goal so we are making some changes to make things even better for all. The kitchen demonstration, for example, will now be done up front with all the students attending at once. We
replaced the cardboard trash cans with 5-gallon buckets that stayed in place and served their purpose.

Special thanks to DCMG Sandi Means, RB1 Farm Manager Adrianna Rogers and Dallas County MG Volunteer Coordinator Khristal Oduwole for presenting such an organized, easy-to-follow schedule of events that is sure to both educate and delight the students!
There are still some volunteer positions open, so please email Sandi Means if you are interested in joining in on the fun!
