Lakewood Fall Spruce Up was a Great Success!
“There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place, where colors are brighter, the air is softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever.” Elizabeth Lawrence
Our heartfelt thanks to ALL the dedicated Lakewood families, educators (including DCMGs Nicole Jones and Dana Booth), the Lakewood Garden Team, Dallas County Master Gardeners (including many members of the amazing Intern Class of 2024), and Master Naturalists, who worked together to revitalize the students’ “enchanted place” and prepare it for cooler days ahead!
We are so grateful for a generous donation of pollinator native and adapted perennials, herbs, and Swiss chard. Luckily, the forecasted weekend rain was delayed until noon Sunday just as we were cleaning up. As a special treat, Lakewood teachers Eryn Davila and Heather Shopoff opened the chicken coop, much to the delight of the children and adults! Check out the courtyard and LOLA path gardens to see all that was accomplished!
