The DCMGA 2024 Garden Tour is Just Around the Corner!
The DCMGA 2024 Garden Tour is scheduled for this spring! The tour will be held on Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and will feature 5 private home gardens and a public demonstration garden, as well as a new concept to the tour this year – two “bonus” gardens that are just too packed full of native and adaptive botanical marvels to leave out.
The East Dallas/Old Lake Highlands area was selected for this year’s tour as a prime location for showcasing the natural beauty of the surrounding areas of Dallas’ “hidden gem,” White Rock Lake.
All gardens are in close proximity to each other, allowing optimal time for guests to relax and peruse the picturesque landscapes while spending little time driving to each destination.
Whether you simply desire visual inspiration for your home garden, or you are looking for the knowledge, ideas and solutions from some of the best gardeners Dallas has to offer, this tour has something for everyone.
Visitors can expect to view a variety of functional designs, including terraced backyards, water features, innovative use of alley space, and alluring havens for pollinators and birds, to name a few.
Trained Master Gardener docents will be stationed at each garden pointing out features of particular interest, answering questions, and providing plant identification and growing tips using Earth-Kind® practices.
Expert speakers at each of the featured locations will provide brief lessons and advice. Guests are welcomed to interact with the garden owners to learn about how their gardens took shape. Specific plant lists will be available for each location.
Garden tour tickets will be available this February and will cost $18 in advance or $22 at the door.
