The two-day class will include a Saturday Zoom classroom session, and a 1.5-hour outdoor plant identification walk. Level 2 includes 1.5 hour hands-on design instruction.
Level 1:
- Learn the value of including and preserving natives in landscapes.
- Discover the differences between conventional and sustainable landscaping.
- Understand your Texas vegetation region and soils.
Level 2:
- Learn how to create landscape designs using native plants
- Review ecological considerations important to landscape design
- Identify cultural considerations impacting landscape design
- Learn steps to the design process
- Practice the design process during an hour-long exercise
Both:
- Learn 45 native Texas plants for your landscape and 5 plants to avoid.
- Participants receive completion certificates from the Native Plant Society of Texas – or competency certificates if you additionally pass a test.
- TX Nursery and Landscape Association (TNLA): 6 CEUs
- TX Master Naturalists or Master Gardeners: 7 hrs. advanced training

Level 1 is a prerequisite for Levels 2 and 3. Levels 2 and 3 may be taken in any order.
