The Bath House Pollinator Gardens have been a Dallas County Master Gardener project since 2008. It is comprised of four beds: the oval garden facing the entrance to the Bath House Cultural Center, the small circle garden facing the lake, and the two newest lake-facing beds installed after the upgrade to the building.
There is also a very small garden at the historical marker at Winfrey Point. All gardens contain water-conserving and Earth-Kind® native and adapted plants that provide food and shelter to bees, birds, butterflies, and other small animals all year round. These plants show visitors what to grow in their own landscapes to add color, diversity, and habitat. The gardens are very popular with nature photographers and are also used for celebrations like engagements, weddings, graduation, etc.
Although we use low-maintenance plants, most of our work consists of weeding, deadheading, and keeping the abundance of blooms from escaping their intended spaces. We schedule work sessions for the convenience of our core volunteers including evenings in the summer.
