Tree lined street in urban setting

Updated! January Meeting News

Due to the level of COVID infections, Dallas County Master Gardener Association’s meeting will be live via Zoom only. The meeting is free and open to Master Gardener’s and the public with pre-registration.  The live Zoom begins at 11:30 am on January 27, 2022. The meetings will also be posted later on our YouTube channel.

Our guest speaker at the January meeting will be Karen Woodard, Dallas City Forester. Karen has degrees in Horticulture, Environmental Science and Master of Science Forestry. She will speak to us about choosing, pruning, and caring for trees in our own urban settings.

Karen came to the City of Dallas from the Texas Forest Service where she worked as a Regional Urban Forester, with her last assignment being the Hurricane Rita Urban Tree Recovery Project.  Karen is currently the City Forester, assisting all departments with tree issues and teaching City of Dallas personnel and the public on all thing’s trees.

The Dallas County Master Gardener Association, Inc. (DCMGA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting horticulture education and volunteer service throughout the county.  It is a component of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, an agency of Texas A&M University. DCMGA programs and events provide learning opportunities to county residents through speakers and demonstration gardens, as well as garden projects for local organizations.
