2022 Dallas County Master Gardener Association (DCMGA) Scholarship Application
DCMGA will periodically solicit applications for a non-renewable scholarship of up to $2,500.00 per academic year. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a graduate of a secondary school in Dallas County. The applicant’s major must be agriculture, urban agriculture, horticulture, or a related field. The scholarship will be awarded to a second year or higher undergraduate student or a graduate student. It is not available for first year studies. Past applicants and past scholarship recipients may reapply in subsequent years. The scholarship award will be paid directly to the recipient’s college or university to cover tuition, fees required for study, and books or study materials supplied by the college or university and required for study. The applicant must be making steady progress in a program that leads to a bachelor’s degree or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
DCMGA seeks to identify and reward highly motivated students who show strong commitment and dedication to reaching their goals. Grades are only one of many criteria to be considered, and all qualified students are encouraged to apply. Decisions of DCMGA are final.
If in DCMGA’s judgement there is no qualified applicant, DCMGA need not award a scholarship for that period. Decisions of DCMGA to award a scholarship or to decline to make an award are final. Scholarship awards may be applied to qualified expenses incurred during more than one semester or other period of study but must be used before the end of the calendar year following the year the award is granted. Any claim to award funds unused at that time will be relinquished by the awardee.
Scholarship applicants agree to allow DCMGA to publicize the award and use the applicant’s name, educational history, course of study, schools attended and applicant’s image and likeness in all forms of media, including but not limited to print and electronic media, social media, internet websites and video presentations.
It is not permissible to award a scholarship that results in any financial reward or benefit, either directly or indirectly, to any DCMGA officer, board member or member of the Philanthropy Committee. Descendants, spouses and descendants of spouses, and siblings and descendants of siblings of DCMGA officers, board members and Philanthropy Committee members are ineligible to apply for or to receive award of a scholarship.
