The Dallas County Master Gardener Association would like to recognize Master Gardener, Kathy Lyon, for her contribution to the incredible success of multiple projects at the R&B 1 Urban County Farm.

Making A Difference Award

Kathy, a member of the Class of 2020, is praised by her project leaders and fellow gardeners for being a reliable member of their gardening team, not only showing up, but always willing to take on the less glamorous, but important jobs. Kathy pitches in each week and helps with the messiest and most strenuous tasks, while always having an engaging smile and friendly, positive attitude. Her participation encompasses all aspects of the Urban County Farm, from the vegetable garden to the vineyard. It was specifically noted that she planted and tends native plants around the vineyard that beautify the area and attract pollinators.

Kathy brings special expertise to the Wine Making Class. She has participated from the initial development of the class, helping with planning, advertising and set-up. Uniquely, Kathy has fully documented the class by taking photos, which she shares on Facebook and compiled detailed notes. Kathy can be relied on to have recorded “what comes next”.
