Become a Master Gardener!
General Information: Classes are held once per year. Our next available class will be in January 2017.
Applications for the 2017 class will be available in mid-2016.
The Master Gardener Training Program generally consists of 13 classes, all held on Mondays, January through early April. The classes meet from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. at varying locations.
To be accepted into the program, you must fill out an application, submit to a background check, and attend a mandatory orientation meeting usually held on a Saturday prior to the class start. There is a fee for the program that includes class materials. The fee for the class in 2015 was $215 and includes study materials.
In addition to the 84 hours of class time, you must contribute a minimum of 72 hours of approved volunteer work on Dallas County Master Gardener approved projects over the 12 months following your instruction period. After that first year, you are required to contribute a minimum of 30 approved volunteer hours and 6 hours of continuing education each year to remain a Certified Master Gardener.
